PTI once again shows support for terrorists by not attending the National...

DND Report

Islamabad, Pakistan: By following the anarchist policies of former prime minister Imran Khan and its soft corner for terrorists, the PTI refrained from attending the meeting of the National Security Committee held here on Tuesday.

The meeting was desired by national political parties as parliamentarians wanted to show their resolve against terrorism and express their support for personnel of law enforcement agencies who are sacrificing their lives. It is pertinent to mention that the event of the Jaffar Express hijacking has been condemned by almost every country and important international leader except India, Afghanistan, and former prime minister Imran Khan and all three components instead of condemning the terrorism decided to support terrorists through their behavior.

This is not the first time PTI refrained from attending important meetings concerning with country’s security rather it is part and parcel of PTI’s strategy of non-participating in national issues.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired an in-camera meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, in which the parliamentary leaders of all political parties except PTI were present. The military leadership briefed the meeting on the current security situation in the country.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, addressing the participants of the meeting, said that terrorism has become a scourge for the country, and politicians decided to sit together in the parliament to find a long-term and sustainable solution to this scourge.

He said that terrorism has no place on the soil of Pakistan, and the nation cannot forget the sacrifices of the martyrs who are determined to completely cleanse the country of terrorism, and peace, order, and security will be ensured in the country.

The Prime Minister described the state’s actions against terrorism as commendable and a source of pride and paid tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for the country on behalf of the nation. DG Military Operations gave a briefing in the meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security.

PTI is the party that invited terrorists of TTP back to the country along with their families and NATO-grade weapons

The Parliamentary Committee was also briefed on terrorism in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in which it was informed about the operations of militant and terrorist organizations in Balochistan. The meeting was attended by Army Chief General Asim Munir, DG ISI Asim Malik, DGMO, and DG IB. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, Rana Sanaullah, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Ahsan Iqbal, Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani, Faisal Vavda, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Jam Kamal, Prime Minister Azad Kashmir and Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan also attended the meeting along with Chief Ministers, Governors and IG Police of all four provinces.

It is pertinent to mention that 38 members of the federal cabinet, 16 members of the PPP, and two members of the PML-Q were present while Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, and Akhtar Mengal refrained from participating in the meeting like nobody from PTI attended the meeting. Speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq said that the opposition’s behavior is contrary to parliamentary traditions, and they have disappointed the nation, the opposition leader and his party should have attended the meeting of utmost importance.

It has always been seen that on such occasions, all political parties forget their differences and unite for the integrity of the country. The APS incident is a witness to this when all political parties and the people of Pakistan together with the Pakistan Army faced this challenge, but the sad thing is that in today’s meeting, the PTI demonstrated its traditional stubbornness. It is pertinent to mention that PTI is the party that invited terrorists of TTP back to the country from Afghanistan and resettled them in Pak-Afghan bordering areas who came along with their families and NATO-grade weapons left by US forces behind in Afghanistan deliberately.

According to sources, earlier PTI had expressed that Barrister Gohar and other leaders would attend the meeting, but in a statement issued late at night on Monday, it demanded the release of its founding chairman Imran Khan on parole who is neither a parliamentarian nor a free man as he is going through imprisonment under corruption charges.  Sources are confirming that the entire PTI party has come under pressure due to the boycott of the National Security Committee meeting by Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Raja Nasir Abbas and this political blackmailing also compelled PTI to not attend the meeting.

Unfortunately, there is widespread political polarization in the country, especially the PTI seems to be doing politics at every national event, but here it seems that the entire party has been hijacked. After the boycott of Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Raja Nasir Abbas who have no connection with the PTI, making decisions under political pressure shows that there is no decision-making power left parliamentary leadership of PTI.

The question arises as to why on the one hand, the entire nation is standing by the Pakistan Army and security agencies in the war against terrorism, and on the other hand PTI standing with the anti-national forces while scoring political points.

Pakistan’s security forces are sacrificing their lives in the war against terrorism and there is a dire need for national and public support in this war, but the PTI is constantly questioning the sacrifices of these martyrs and the party has resorted to traditional political dogm,a and tactics that indicate the anti-national agenda of this party.

The question also arises that all the leaders of PTI were eager to attend the National Security Committee meeting, but the political blackmail of Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Nasir Abbas completely changed the decision of the entire party. Isn’t this indicating the hijacking of the party? Doesn’t this decision reveal the lack of decision-making in the party, mutual discord, and division in the party?

Here, the question is also important whether Imran Khan is also aware of the decision not to attend the National Security Committee meeting or not. And if so, was the decision of two people who are not even part of this party given priority over the decision of the party members?
