Islamabad, Pakistan: There is no doubt left that Pakistan is facing multipronged strategies of enemies, particularly Indian facilitation and role of Afghanistan, providing a launching pad of terrorism against Pakistan.
Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif on March 14, 2025, sitting along with Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, reemphasised that India is the main sponsor of terrorism in Balochistan while Afghanistan is a source of support for terrorist activities in Pakistan — the two uncontested facts that every sane person knows in Pakistan. He had proved with authentic evidence in the press conference that India is involved in terrorism on the Jaffar Express, funds and weapons are being provided for brutal acts. It is an unfortunate reality that the Afghan government is playing the role of a proxy to destabilize Pakistan, although Pakistan had helped Afghans for years in the form of refugees, from the Russian invasion to the landing of the US in Afghanistan. Afghan soil has become a paradise for terrorists where they are flourishing and are committing terrorism in Pakistan. Pakistan has taken up this issue with Afghanistan before. No one has the right to allow terrorism inside our country from their soil. The kind of facilities provided by the Afghan interim government to these terrorists, with their help, they carry out terrorist acts.
There is another unfortunate factor Pakistan is facing and that is political divide at a level where the country has been put at risk. Everyone saw that as soon as the terrorist act of Jaffar Express took place, India started its electronic and social media propaganda and at the same time, PTI’s social media also became a facilitator for the Indian media. False propaganda was started through fake videos and AI images. There is no other opinion that law enforcement agencies killed all the terrorists in a few hours and rescued the train hijack hostages. Everyone has access to the scene, independent media has also gone there, everyone has seen that all the passengers of the train have been rescued while 26 people have been martyred.
If we look at the reality, even countries like the US and Russia are helpless in the face of such terrorist incidents. The quick clearance of the incident is a great success of our security agencies. The terrorists who come from Afghan soil with training not only cross the border with the help of the Afghan government, but they are also armed with the modern weapons that the US left behind during its hasty withdrawal from Afghanistan. The Pakistan Army and all the security agencies of the state are currently fighting a war against terrorism and in this war, the conscious people of Pakistan are standing shoulder to shoulder with their forces. Just as our Pakistani forces had previously controlled terrorism with the help of the people, it is hoped that we will soon get rid of this scourge of terrorism. And this will be possible only when we are united against the evil intentions of our enemies, especially India.
The nation is proud that with brave soldiers who are securing the country which is under the target of the enemies who are trying to stop CPEC and the mineral development of Balochistan. Pakistan Army defeated terrorists in 2013-2017, but the decision of the PTI government to resettle terrorists in Pakistan in 2018 allowed terrorism to flourish. Friendly countries strongly condemned the cowardly terrorist incident. The UN Security Council has also condemned the tragedy through a very strong resolution on it. The Security Council’s action is a great success for Pakistan at the diplomatic level.
At a time when hostile forces have imposed war on Pakistan with the help of terrorists, Pakistan should stand together to face the challenges with complete unity and solidarity. There should be a multi-dimensional strategy to handle consequences after the Jaffar Express incident, in which academicians, journalists, writers, government institutions, and politicians should not stay away from the grave situation because the security of the country is not the responsibility of one institution.
It is eccentric that the Pakistan Army is supposed to handle and answer everything from floods to dollar smuggling and from provincial security to sharing information about what foreign country is behind terrorism in Pakistan. Is it not the time of packing and wrapping up civilian institutions if Pakistan Army has to look after everything?
Since Pakistan is going through an existential crisis by facing multipronged strategies of enemies, the country needs synchronised, aligned and all-inclusive moves of politicians, civil bureaucracy, Intelligentsia and the Army instead of leaving all responsibilities to only one organisation (Pakistan Army) to handle the situation at every level.
