Government of PakistanPakistan, Tajikistan advance bilateral cooperation in labour mobility & industrial expertise

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis & Human Resource Development (OP&HRD) Chaudhry Salik Hussainmet with Tajikistan’s Ambassador Sharifzoda Yousuf Toir and Tajikistan’s Director of the Agency for State Material Reserves Ahmadzoda Nurmahmad to strengthen ties and explore opportunities for collaboration in areas of mutual interest.

The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on labour mobility alongside the exchange of expertise in the garment, stitching, shoe-making industries, as well as manpower for horticulture and gardening sectors.

The MoU on Labour Mobility is aimed at promoting the movement of skilled professionals and workers between the two countries, enabling both nations to benefit from each other’s industrial expertise.

Pakistan, with its thriving garment and textile industry, will export experts and designers to support Tajikistan’s development in this sector while Pakistan seeks to tap into Tajikistan’s growing demand for skilled labour in the horticulture and gardening sectors.

The Federal Minister for OP&HRD Chaudhry Salik Hussain remarked, “This MoU will open up a new chapter in Pakistan-Tajikistan relations. By leveraging our respective strengths in key industries, we are creating opportunities that will benefit the economies and workforce of both countries.”

The ambassador expressed a strong interest in importing skilled labour and industry professionals, particularly in the garment, stitching, and shoe-making sectors, where Pakistan’s workforce has demonstrated significant expertise.

In return, Pakistan is keen to support Tajikistan’s horticultural development by deploying Pakistani manpower to contribute to this expanding sector.

In a gesture to further enhance this partnership, the Honorable Director from Tajikistan extended an official invitation to the Federal Minister for OP&HRD to visit Tajikistan.

The visit will allow both nations to explore deeper cooperation, especially in vocational training, technology transfer, and other areas that can contribute to the socio-economic development of both countries.

Chaudhry Salik Hussain graciously accepted the invitation, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and ensuring the successful signing of the MoU during the visit.

Both ministers agreed to hold regular consultations and follow-up meetings to ensure the smooth and timely execution of the agreed initiatives.
