ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan Railways (PR) is providing passenger and freight transportation services across Pakistan; and presently, 98 passenger trains and 18 freight trains operate on daily basis.

The Minister for Railways told the National Assembly on Friday that all these trains are functional as there is no concept of non-functional trains.

The minister told that Pakistan Railways is fully aware of the conditions of Railway Stations in big cities of the Country. He said that Pakistan Railways is committed to provide quality services to passengers.

The House was apprised that following steps have been taken to maintain hygienic conditions of the Railway Stations:

  • The Janitorial staff have been deputed on all major stations to ensure round the clock cleaning of the platforms, passenger toilets and stations premises.
  • Pakistan Railways has introduced high quality washroom at major stations. These will be available for passenger shortly.
  • Regular monitoring of passenger amenities is being ensured through orderly officers.
  • Fumigation of platforms and waiting rooms of major stations are being ensured on daily basis

Furthermore, the Minister for Railways told the House that Pakistan Railways generated Revenue amounting to Rs 7,287 million during the period from the year 2018 to 2022.

It was told that Pakistan Railway land hasn’t been allotted to any persons/firm/organization during the year 2018 to 2022. However, PR has leased out its land for different purposes e.g Agriculture, stacking and commercial etc.
