ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi on Wednesday accorded an approval to the Zoo and Safari Park of international standard in Islamabad, aimed at to provide world-class recreational facilities to the residents of the Federal Capital.

The foundation stone of the Zoo and Safari Park will be laid in October 2024, and it will span over an area of 200 acres.

In total, 5,000 animals and birds will be housed in the Zoo and Safari Park. However, in the first phase, 2,000 animals and birds will be placed.

Presiding over a meeting held at the CDA Headquarters in which proposals regarding the establishment of Zoo and Safari Park were reviewed, the Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi instructed to register the Zoo and Safari Park with the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA).

The minister issued directive to finalize the matters related to the project soon.

Mohsin Naqvi said that the Zoo and Safari Park will enhance the tourism activities in Islamabad.

The Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Mohammad Ali Randhawa briefed about the project of establishing the Zoo and Safari Park.
