ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the construction work on the Country’s first state-of-the-art Islamabad IT Park has been accelerated to ensure its completion in 2024.

In his remarks during his visit to the under-construction IT Park in Islamabad on Saturday, the prime minister said that the work on the project is continuing round the clock.

The prime minister said that the IT Park will be completed at a cost of Rs 25 billion with US$ 70 million provided by South Korea as a soft loan. He recalled that the project was awarded to the Korean Company in 2022.

Expressing satisfaction over the quality of construction work, the prime minister said that the IT Park will house 120 Offices of IT-enabled Companies and provide job opportunities to 10,000 youth. He said that the facility will also feature Incubation Center, 15 Startups, in addition to the commercial and recreational facilities.

Shahbaz Sharif that the IT Park will have a close coordination and linkages with the academia. He said that an important segment of the park is the construction of IT Labs which will promote research and development activities within our youth.

The prime minister said that the facility will also result in the establishment of 250 E-Rozgaar Centers across the Country. He said that level three data center is also being constructed at the IT Park.

The prime minister said that more IT Parks will be established at the federal and provincial levels and millions of youth will benefit from them. He mentioned that Rs 80 billion have been earmarked in the budget for the IT Sector.

During his visit, the prime minister was given a detailed briefing on the progress of the construction work.

It was informed that the IT Park is being constructed on 14.9 acres of land.
