ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka Admiral (retd) Admiral Ravindra Chandrasiri Wijegunaratne met with the Federal Minister of Interior and Narcotics Control Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad on Friday.

In the meeting, the discussion took place regarding issues of mutual interest and release of Pakistani nationals imprisoned in Sri Lanka.

It was decided that Pakistani prisoners incarcerated in Sri Lankan jails for many years would be brought back in seven days.

Both sides agreed to complete the necessary steps for the repatriation of Pakistani prisoners in Sri Lanka.

The Sri Lankan high commissioner assured all possible support for the release of Pakistani prisoners. He said that all steps are being finalized as soon as possible for the repatriation of Pakistani citizens imprisoned in Sri Lanka.

In the meeting, the anti-narcotics and border security issues were also discussed.

The Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that the bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Pakistan have strengthened over time. He said that urgent steps need to be taken to further develop mutual relations.

Mohsin Naqvi said that promoting cooperation in counter-narcotics and border security is the need of the hour.

The High Commissioner) Admiral Ravindra Chandrasiri Wijegunaratne said that Sri Lanka attaches great importance to its ties with Pakistan.
