ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi convened an important meeting in Islamabad on Monday to review Muharram security arrangements.

Today is the first Muharram-Ul-Haram while Ashura will be observed on July 17, 2024.

In the meeting to be held at the Ministry of Interior, the measures to protect the life and property of the people during the Muharram will be reviewed.

The security plan for the assemblies and processions will also be reviewed.

The Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi will give necessary instructions to the concerned authorities to maintain the atmosphere of peace and order during the entire month.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi will give a briefing about the security plan for the Muharram.

Meanwhile, in their messages on the advent of new Islamic year 1446 Hijrah, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed best wishes for nation and Muslim Ummah.

Both the president and prime minister stressed upon the nation to nurture qualities of affection, forbearance and tolerance by shunning all differences and play role for strengthening of national unity and interfaith harmony in the Country.

According to TASS news Agency, Nebenzya said that Moscow will continue to call for an end to violence against Palestinians and will not allow the US to muzzle the UN Security Council as Washington seeks to support Israel's operation in Gaza. "We will continue to stand firmly for ending violence against the Palestinians. Without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to expose the abuses and sanctimony with which the US is handling the situation. We will not allow the Americans to gag the entire council with their hands in an effort to encourage further continuation of Israel's ruthless operation," he said in a speech at the Security Council.
