BEIJING, China: The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a meeting with the Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Ambassador Zhang Ming in Beijing on Monday.
Reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to the SCO Charter and objectives in the meeting with the SCO secretary general, Ishaq Dar expressed Pakistan’s resolve to advance SCO’s security and development cooperation agenda.
They also discussed Pakistan’s initiatives and contributions to SCO.
Ambassador Zhang Ming expressed support and best wishes to Pakistan during its tenure as the current Chair of the SCO Council of Heads of Government.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar is currently in Beijing on an official visit from May 13 to 16, 2024 to co-chair the Fifth Pakistan-China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue with the Chinese Foreign Minister and Director of the General Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China Wang Yi covering the full spectrum of Pakistan-China relations.
Earlier in the day, upon his arrival in Beijing, Senator Ishaq Dar was received by the Director General Ambassador Wang Fu Kang and Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Ambassador Khalil Hashmi.
In the Fifth Pakistan-China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue, the two sides will comprehensively review Pakistan-China bilateral relations including economic and trade cooperation; high-level exchanges and visits; upgradation of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and future connectivity initiatives.
On the sidelines of the Strategic Dialogue, Ishaq Dar will also hold meetings with Chinese leaders and senior officials and with prominent business enterprises.
