KARACHI, Pakistan: Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman has been elected by majority vote as the new Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), replacing Siraj Ul Haq who stepped down from the position following the defeat and worst performance of JI in the Elections 2024.
His tenure as the JI Ameer will last from April 2024 till April 2029.

Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman joined Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba (IJT) in early 90s and eventually served as its President twice.
In 2000, he became a member of JI. He also served as Assistant Secretary, General Secretary and Deputy Emir of Karachi. He became the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami’s Karachi Chapter in 2013.
Hafiz Naeem won the Sindh Assembly seat from PS-129 (Karachi Central VIII) in 2024 elections; however, he relinquished his seat, saying that his team worked on tallying the Form 45 and his votes were allegedly decreased by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in the Form 47.
Naeem said that it was the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-backed Candidate Saif Bari who won on PS-129, not him.
