ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Nation is celebrating Pakistan Day on Saturday with renewed pledge to work hard for the progress and stability of the Country.
The Day marks adoption of historic Lahore Resolution on March 23, 1940 that provided a framework for realization of the goal of a separate homeland for Muslims of South Asia.
The Day dawned with 31-gun salute in the Federal Capital and 21-gun salute in Provincial Capitals.
Special prayers were offered in mosques after Fajr prayers for the progress, prosperity and solidarity of the Country.
The national flag has been hoisted on major government buildings.
The main feature of the Day is the annual spectacular Pakistan Day Military Parade being held in Islamabad where contingents of Pakistan Army, Navy, Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Special Services Groups (SSGs), Frontier Corps (FC), Rangers, and Islamabad Police, Frontier Constabulary (FC), Airport Security Force, and Boys Scouts are conducting march past while fighter planes are presenting aerobatic maneuvers.
In addition, mechanized columns including tanks, armored personnel carriers, rocket launchers, air defense system, Radars, indigenously built UAVs, and short and long-range missiles Ra’ad, Nasr, Babr, Ghaznavi, and Shaheen have also been showcased on the occasion.
In the afternoon, an investiture ceremony will be held at Aiwan-e-Sadr where President Asif Ali Zardari would confer awards and medals to personalities for their outstanding contribution in different fields.
