ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Shahbaz Sharif has sworn in as the Prime Minister of Pakistan for the second consecutive term۔
President Dr. Arif Alvi administered the Oath to him at a Ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad on Monday.
The Swearing-in Ceremony was attended amongst others by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Quaid Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, the Chief Ministers of Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan, and the Parliamentarians.
Earlier on Sunday, Shahbaz Sharif, as the Joint Candidate of PML-N and allied parties, secured 201 votes to be elected as the Prime Minister.
His opponent Sunni Ittehad Council’s (SIC) Candidate Omar Ayub Khan bagged 92 votes.
The Chief of Balochistan National Party (Mengal) Akhtar Mengal abstained from voting.
Meanwhile, Asad Rehman Gilani, a BS-21 Officer of Pakistan Administrative Services, has been posted as the Secretary to Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
“Mr. Asad Rehman Gilani, a BS-21 Officer of Pakistan Administrative Services, presently posted as Additional Secretary (Incharge), Power Division, is transferred and posted as Secretary to the Prime Minister, Prime Minister’s Office, under Section 10 of the Civil Act, 1973, with immediate effect and until further orders,” read the notification issued by the Establishment Division on Monday.
