ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: An Accountability Court on Wednesday sentenced the former Prime Minister and his spouse Bushra Bibi to 14 years in prison in the Toshakhana Reference.
The Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Bashir announced the verdict in Toshakhana Case at Adiala jail in Rawalpindi.
The Accountability Court also disqualified the former prime minister from holding the public office for 10 years.
Last month, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had filed a fresh reference against the two in an Accountability Court for retaining a jewellery set received from Saudi Crown Prince against an undervalued assessment.
Previously, Imran Khan was convicted in the Toshakhana Case on August 5, 2023 and sentenced to three years’ imprisonment. Later, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) had suspended his sentence; however, a Division Bench had later rejected Imran Khan’s petition seeking the suspension of the conviction.
The fresh verdict against Imran Khan arrived just a day after he and his former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi were awarded 10 years jail term in Cipher Case by the Special Court Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain.
