MediaPTV stops live streaming of Cricket match as Imran Khan’s poster appears...

The Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) suddenly stopped the live streaming of Pakistan and New Zealand fourth T20I as they realised Imran Khan’s poster was being shown, a reflection of how a state-run institution running on public taxpayers’ money is being used for serving a certain political agenda.

Its’ been over a year or more that there has been a de facto ban on referring to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan in the media as all TV Channels have been barred from showing Imran Khan’s picture or even mentioning his name.

Though Courts have asked the authorities to remove such de facto ban or even Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has consistently been in the denial mode of passing any such instructions to media but yet even the state-run PTV remains the frontrunner in running a malicious propaganda against PTI and Imran Khan.

Ironically, PTV is giving no (or least) airtime to PTI leaders but whenever a PTI leader is forced to part ways with the party or he/she pins all the blame on Imran Khan for allegedly misleading the youth and demeaning the state institutions, it not only gives full coverage to him/her but airs programs based on anti-Imran Khan narrative.

Imran Khan’s poster appeared on TV screens while being held by a spectator during the fourth T20I between Pakistan and New Zealand at Christchurch on Friday.

In the match, Pakistan lost to the host by 7 wickets.

Batting first, Pakistan posted a total of 158 for 5 in stipulated 20 overs. In reply, New Zealand reached the target in 18.1 overs with 7 wickets still in hand.

It’s worth noting that Pakistan has already lost the five-match T20 series by 0-4.
