Moscow: Russian will tighten its visa regime for Muslims and will review already given visas to Muslims irrespective of their nationalities, reports Dispatch News Desk (DND) from Moscow.

The decision was taken on February 8 special meeting of Russian security departments where President Vladimir Putin has strongly criticised the work of Russian Interior Ministry. According to Russian media, Putin was reviewing work of the ministry in connection with reforms that were initiated by the department at the time former President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev who is now Prime Minister of the country. The main objectives of the reform were to improve the efficiency of law enforcement agencies to fight terrorism, corruption and improve the image of law enforcement.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Presidential Administration, the State Duma, the Federation Council, the heads of the FSB, the Federal Drug Control Service, the Prosecutor General, Ministry of Emergencies, the Investigative Committee and other ministries and departments.

In response of this special meeting and instructions of Russian President, crackdown against suspected terrorists mostly Muslims have been started all over the country. Special operations have started and several Muslims belong to United Kingdom, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, and the Egyptian citizen and one citizen of Afghanistan were arrested in St. Petersburg. Around 271 people were arrested and brought Central Investigation Department.

“Ten detainees found documents with evidence of forgery, 20 individuals have no documents. Six of the detainees to be deported out of Russia,” confirmed DND correspondent.
