ISLAMABAD: Pakistan said on Thursday that drone attacks are not only violation of its sovereignty but are resulting in collateral damage‚ which are not acceptable at any cost.

A clear message has been conveyed to US government that continuation of these attacks could lead to a direct stand-off between Pakistan and United States, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan told media in Islamabad on Thursday.

The interior minister said US has also been conveyed that this stand-off could have serious implication on its forces’ withdrawal from Afghanistan and post withdrawal situation.

Nisar said federal government has decided to convene a meeting of leaders of major political parties possibly on July 12 to formulate a comprehensive National Security Policy to bring peace and overcome menace of terrorism.

The minister said issue of possible dialogue with Taliban will also be discussed in this meeting‚ which will also be attended by the heads of civil and military security agencies as the government is determined to bring peace at all cost with the support of all stakeholders.

Nisar said issue of detention camps and missing persons will also be addressed in the National Security Policy.

He said three task forces have been formed to look into the issues of national security‚ missing persons and return of Dr. Afia Siddiqi which will submit their reports within two weeks’ time.

Chaudhry Nisar Ali said a wide range revamping will done in all allied departments of Ministry of Interior and officers have good repute will be posted in field to improve the situation.

The interior minister expressed his concerns over the military coup in Egypt and said democracy should be flourished at all costs. He said there must be a rule of law. However‚ he rejected any possibility of such like situations in Pakistan.

Nisar said as there is no conflict between political government and armed forces so there is no room for military-political imbalance.

He said armed forced should be appreciated for their commendable job to fight against terrorism and sacrificing thousands of its soldiers and officers. He said Army is only institution whom men lives are on the line and we must respect their sacrifices.

Talking about situation in Karachi‚ he said FC and Rangers are working under the control of concerned provincial governments and which are responsible for bringing peace.

However‚ more support can be extended to them if need to achieve the desired goals.

On the issue of Altaf Hussain‚ he said the matter is with London Police and Pakistan has nothing to do with it.

However‚ he said government is being updated by the British authorities on the progress.

The interior minister said that it has been decided that none of foreigners or international agencies could directly interact with Pakistani officials without proper permission from the concerned authorities.

To a question‚ he said that investigation are heading in positive way in Diamer killing incident hoping that the real culprits will be apprehended soon and brought to justice.

Nisar said a special cell will be setup at Federal Investigation Agency to protect human rights including overcoming women and children harassment.
