North AmericaPakistan strongly condemns drone strike in North Waziristan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Wednesday strongly condemned the missile attack in Miranshah earlier this morning in which around 17 people lost their lives.

A US drone fired four missiles that struck a residential compound and a vehicle in North Waziristan Agency on Wednesday morning, killing 17 people and injuring two others.

Pakistan Foreign Office said in a statement that the government of Pakistan strongly condemns the US drone strike that took place in Miranshah, North Waziristan.

“These strikes are a violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Pakistan has repeatedly emphasized the importance of bringing an immediate end to drone strikes,” the statement said.

It said that the government has consistently maintained that drone strikes are counter-productive, entail loss of innocent civilian lives and have human rights and humanitarian implications.

“These drone strikes have a negative impact on the mutual desire of both countries to forge a cordial and cooperative relationship and to ensure peace and stability in the region,” the Foreign Office added.
