SportsIHC seeks explanation on Najam Sethi’s appointment as chairman PCB

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday sought explanation from the inter-provincial coordination ministry and Najam Sethi over his appointment as acting Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

The court was hearing a petition, filed on Wednesday by a citizen of Islamabad through Advocate Tariq Asad, challenging Najam Sethi’s appointment as PCB’s acting chairman.

The applicant had argued that Sethi’s appointment as PCB chairman was made on political grounds. Najam Sethi has no understanding of cricket affairs, it said, pleading that he should be barred from work on immediate basis.

During today’s proceedings, Justice Shaukat Aziz remarked that he came to know about Sethi’s appointment as PCB chief through media reports.

It was observed that Najam Sethi’s name was not included in the candidates’ list submitted in the court earlier.

Later, the court sought explanation from Najam Sethi and the inter-provincial coordination ministry, and adjourned the hearing till July 4.
