LAHORE, Pakistan: The former Chief Minister Punjab and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has been arrested from his residence in Lahore.

Parvez Elahi was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) with the help of Punjab Police.

The Caretaker Punjab Information Minister Amir Mir confirmed Elahi’s arrest, saying that he was in his vehicle and “trying to flee” when he was arrested.

“Yes, he has been arrested from the Zahoor Elahi Road. He was arrested while trying to flee,” Amir Mir told a Private News Channel.

“Several raids were carried out at his residence. He was wanted. Today, out of the blue, a couple of bullet-proof cars came out [of the house]. He was in one of the cars,” he said.

Responding to his arrest, Moonis Elahi said that when the process of apprehending went underway in January, his father had told him to stand by Imran Khan even if he was taken into custody, and three days ago, he as well as his mother, reiterated the same resolve.

Moonis Elahi said that his father has been arrested in bogus cases, and reaffirmed that they were and would continue to be part of PTI.
