SWABI: A bomb blast went off in Swabi district of restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Saturday that left three policemen including a station chief injured.

District Police Officer Mian Saeed said that a remote-controlled improvised explosive device (IED) targeted a police mobile van in which the three policemen were travelling near a graveyard near Government Degree College Shewa.

Azhar Shah, the SHO of Swabi Police Station, was returning from the college where he had appeared for his BA exam when his vehicle was attacked, said police.

Shah was injured along with two constables travelling in the mobile van with him.

A passerby woman was also injured in the blast, which destroyed the vehicle. The injured were being treated at a local hospital, while one of the wounded was shifted to a hospital in Peshawar.
