Since its launch in November 2022, CHatGPT has taken over the internet. Many internet users have been using it to produce music and messages, and even create programmes. However, questions of its credibility came this week when ChatGPT started leaking some of the conversations.
OpenAi CEO Sam Altman spoke about the malfunction in the AI system that leaked some conversations with other individuals. He stated that some individuals were able to see title heads of other users’ conversations. However, he also asserted that the malfunction has been resolved.
Instances of ChatGPT Leaking Conversations
Many users started posting screenshots of the chat logos on Twitter and Reddit. According to them, those conversations were not their own and they did not know how they appeared in their chatbox.
It is certain that every conversation is saved in the system’s database. So, the users can refer back to their chat history. However, the users started seeing conversations that they never had with ChatGPT which alarmed them about the platform’s security. For instance, a Reddit user shared a screenshot of a conversation titled “Chinese Socialism Development.” Additionally, he also saw some conversations title in the Mandarin language. It happened due to a bug.
Fixing of Problem
To fix this problem, OpenAi deactivated the system for almost an hour to fix the problem. During that time, the users were not able to fetch, even their own, conversations. CEO of Open AI also claimed that they will do a technical postmortem to investigate about ChatGPT leaking conversations.
Even after the resolution of the issue, the users are still concerned about the platform breaching their information. So, it has to be noted that the company has stated in its privacy policy that users’ data may be used in model training. It will help to make the system more feasible for the users.
But, the information is only revealed when all the personally identifiable information is removed from the conversations. There are many other chatbots entering the market. Meanwhile, in this competitive situation, the ChatGPT leaking conversations issue may put the company at a stake.
