SHAKAI, Pakistan: Owing to a lackluster response and inaction from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) police and local administration, the visibly perturbed and disenchanted office-bearers of Shakai Youth Welfare Organization eventually penned letters to the relevant quarters to play their due role to ensure amicable, just and speedy settlement of the Shakai land dispute in order to avoid further men and material loss.

Chairman and General Secretary Shakai Youth Welfare Organization Muhammad Imran and Bilal Khan respectively, in their joint letters to IG Police, Commissioner Dera Ismail Khan Division, Deputy Commissioner District Lower Waziristan and DPO district Lower Waziristan demanded prompt actions to find out negotiated settlement to the land conflict between Sperkai and Khonye Khel tribes of tehsil Shakai.

They wrote that the two major tribes of Tehsil shakai, Sperkai and Khonye Khel, have been fighting against each other for the last six months.

It was stated that both the warring tribes were using heavy weapons against each other positions, resultantly a young man was killed and an elderly woman sustained bullet serious injuries hitherto.

They demanded that the high-ups should use their worthy powers and authority to resolve the decades-old land dispute between the two tribes and impose ban on the display of all kind of arms and ammunitions in the area.

The Shakai youth expressed alarm that the situation got tense extremely that hundreds of bodies were feared to fall. It was stated that the clashes between the two tribes not only brought business and other activities in the entire area into a grinding halt but it also put at risk lives of the commoners in the scenic valley.

Therefore, they said that Shakai Youth requested them to please use their powers and authority to find out a workable and mutually agreed peaceful solution to the land conflict to avoid any further damage.

They expressed apprehension that if the government did not show interest in the resolution of the conflict, there was a fear of lot of human and financial loss.
