ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Kashmir Solidarity Day is being observed on Sunday to express whole hearted support of Pakistani nation to the just struggle of Kashmiri people for their inalienable right to self-determination under the UN resolutions.

The Day is also marked to expose worst ever oppression being perpetrated by Indian occupation forces against Kashmiris in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

One minute silence will be observed at 10:00 am across the Country.

Solidarity walks will be organized in Islamabad, Muzaffarabad, Gilgit and in four Provincial Headquarters.

In the Federal Capital, the walk will be led by the Federal Cabinet members including Ahsan Iqbal, Khawaja Asif and Qamar Zaman Kaira.

It will be joined by the Parliamentarians and people belonging to different walks of life.

Human Chains will be formed at Kohala and other important points linking Pakistan and Azad Kashmir.

In connection with the day, posters and billboards have been displayed on important roads, airports, and railway stations to highlight the plight of Kashmiri people.

Likewise, debate and declamation contests as well as essay writing competitions are being organized in educational institutions across the Country.

In her weekly media briefing held in Islamabad on February 02, the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mumtaz Zahra Baloch reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to continue to extend all possible support to our Kashmiri brothers and sisters towards a just and peaceful settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UN Security Council Resolutions.

“We believe that durable peace, security and development in the region hinges on peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute,” she said.

The Spokesperson said that it is imperative that the Kashmiris exercise their right to self-determination through a free and impartial plebiscite under the auspices of the United Nations.
