  • Pakistan’s economy needs comprehensive structural reforms for inclusive, smooth and sustainable growth and state-owned enterprises reform is one of major key priority area.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Finance Division is organizing a stakeholder seminar to raise awareness and improve understanding of major reform initiatives on State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) at Serena Hotel in Islamabad on Wednesday.

The seminar is aimed to consult on major challenges to improve corporate governance and commercial performance, and share information and practical experiences on international best practices and lessons learned that could further inform the scope and design of the government’s SOEs reform program.

The seminar will provide a good opportunity to all stakeholders to exchange ideas on the progress so far made on various SOE reform initiatives undertaken by the government.

It expected that the seminar will generate new ideas and feedback from the line ministries and SOEs that will further improve our efforts to implement the SOEs reforms agenda in an effective and collaborative manner.

The Federal Ministers, the Country Director Asian Development Bank (ADB) and other officials from ADB and the World Bank will participate and address the Seminar.

Moscow says it won’t allow US to silence UNSC on Israeli violence against Palestinians Monitoring Desk: Russian envoy in United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said that the UN Security Council should bring peace, stability and prosperity to the Middle East and Russia would not allow United States to silence UNSC over the issue of Gaza crisis. According to TASS news Agency, Nebenzya said that Moscow will continue to call for an end to violence against Palestinians and will not allow the US to muzzle the UN Security Council as Washington seeks to support Israel's operation in Gaza. "We will continue to stand firmly for ending violence against the Palestinians. Without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to expose the abuses and sanctimony with which the US is handling the situation.
