Government of PakistanCoalition government demands SC full-bench in Punjab Chief Minister’s Election Case

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) led coalition government has demanded the Supreme Court of Pakistan to form a full bench to hear the petition filed against the ruling of the Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly Sardar Dost Muhammad Mazari.

In a Joint Press Conference in Islamabad on Monday, the ruling parties leaders including Maryam Nawaz, Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari among others addressed and said that they want a full bench to be formed to hear the Case, saying that they won’t let any conspiracy to succeed against the Country.

Maryam Nawaz said that effects of judicial decisions last for decades, adding that one wrong judgment can blow up the entire case.

The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and the Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that they want democracy to prevail in the Country; however, a few elements can’t digest it and they want to turn the Country into a dictatorial one unit. He said that three people can’t decide the fate of the Country.

Bilawal Bhutto said that they demand institutions to remain uncontroversial and the state affairs be run under the ambit of the Constitution.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that a full bench of the Supreme Court must be constituted to hear the Case. He remarked that the right of announcing the verdict is not being taken away from the Court; rather, they stress that everyone needs self-accountability and the protection of the people and public representatives must be ensured.

Meanwhile, the three-member bench of the Apex Court including the Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Munib Akhtar resumed hearing of the petition filed by the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader Chaudhry Parvez Elahi against the ruling of the Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly.
