National AssemblyNA Speaker assures to implement SC judgment in letter and spirit

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser on Saturday presided over the Session of the National Assembly at the Parliament House in Islamabad.

In his remarks at the outset, the Speaker assured to implement the judgment of the Supreme Court of Pakistan in letter and spirit.

Speaking on the floor of the House, the Opposition Leader Shahbaz Sharif alluded to the judgment of the Supreme Court in a Suo Moto Case, stressing that the proceedings of the House be taken forward as per the judgment.

Responding to the points raised by Shahbaz Sharif, the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the government will face the No-Confidence Motion moved by the opposition parties against Prime Minister Imran Khan in a constitutional, political and democratic manner.

Qureshi said that it is the Constitutional right of opposition parties to move the No-Confidence Motion.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Prime Minister Imran Khan, in his address to the nation yesterday, expressed dissatisfaction over the Supreme Court judgment but also stated that he accepted the judgment.

The foreign minister said that given the current political situation, the prime minister had dissolved the assembly as he wanted the people to decide the political future of the Country.

The minister recalled that the National Security Committee (NSC) had acknowledged the threat letter as a serious and sensitive matter and termed it interference in the internal matters of Pakistan. He said that demarches were also issued in the light of the statement of the National Security Committee.

Later, the proceedings of the House were suspended till 12:30 pm today.
