Monitoring Desk: “Kashmir is not only a Land Dispute between Pakistan and India rather it is a crisis being faced by humanity and India is purging Kashmiri culture and demographical change are also being executed to snatch identity of being a “Kashmiri” from indigenous Kashmiris”.

These were observations of participants of the “Kashmir Solidarity Day” Webinar organized by Pakistan Norway News Oslo, Norway on Sunday.

The Webinar was attended by Ambassador of Pakistan Babar Amin in Oslo, Dr. Maria Sultan from Islamabad, Shazia Anwer Cheema from the Prague Czech Republic, Shahid Jamil, Shahrukh Sohail, Amna Farooq from Norway, Muhammad Khushal, Dr. Zahid Khan from Russia, Lubna Elahi from Denmark and Dr. Rasul and Altaf Bhatt from Pakistan.

Ambassador of Pakistan Babar Amin informed participants about initiatives taken by the Pakistani diaspora and the Pakistani Embassy in Oslo to high the issue of Kashmir in Norway.

Participants were of the view the entire valley is reeling under a silence that is anything but normal and freedom of speech has been severely curtailed. Children are being picked up, detained, and sometimes sexually tortured for days. Some children are sent back home in a state of terror and others continue to be in the custody of the security forces without any official entry being made of their detention. Families do not know whether their young men and boys are being detained in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, or Haryana. Women and girls live in constant fear of molestation and sexual abuse.

Psychological stress caused by the continuing occupation has led to high levels of anxiety and depression levels, and people consume anti-depressant drugs at all times. Anyone can be detained anywhere and anytime even while crossing a road, playing football, sleeping, or having tea in Indian Occupied Kashmir.

The Indian security forces enjoy complete impunity and cases of encounters, enforced disappearances, sexual violence, illegal detentions, torture, entering houses at any time of day or night, breaking windows, and destroying property are now normal in IOJ&K. People to have lost faith in the judiciary. They say that even habeas corpus petitions are not being heard by the J&K High Court.

Foreign Affairs expert from Prague Shazia Anwer Cheema stated that it should not be hard to grasp that India is controlling Kashmiri People in all senses and the cynical silence of the world would never be forgotten in human history. It is high time that the human rights organizations of Europe must come forward to demand that Kashmir must be free.

The basic most entity of society; a family unit is totally tarnished, despite missing love, hope, lust for life that unit miss brother, sisters, fathers, sons, and daughter. These elements have been snatched from almost every family in Kashmir. The demographical change has distorted social and domestic structure in Indian Occupied Kashmir. Participants were of the view that members of Kashmiri society are forcefully being exercised to surrender their basic human will to survive, which of course requires planning and programming. Kashmiri mothers are not sure if they will see their kids again, they are not sure they will get help if get sick, they are not sure their kids should go to school, they are not sure their young’s should start a new family, they are not sure if they will get food on the table. They were of the opinion that orchards owned by Muslim Kashmiris had been catted down for imposing economic genocide on Muslim farmers.

On August 5, 2019, the Indian government abolished the special autonomous status of Kashmir State. Not limiting themselves to abolishing the special status of Kashmir, the Indian authorities accompanied their decision by blocking communication lines in the Kashmir Valley, a region that has long been engulfed in uprisings by local residents.

Despite repeated appeals from authoritative international organizations, India chose to follow a completely different path, which runs counter to the efforts of the OIC and the UN in the settlement of the Kashmir issue.

If someone thinks that the problem of Jammu and Kashmir is a frozen conflict, they are deeply mistaken – there are constant clashes between Kashmiris and representatives of the Indian authorities in this region, and armed conflicts between India and Pakistan do not stop because of Kashmir, on the contrary, only intensify”.

Participants were of the view that the data gathered since the onset of the crisis shows that more than 400,000 men, women, and children have been killed in the valley — which is four times more than those killed in Bosnia and about a half of those killed in Rwanda.

Despite the appalling figures from the occupied valley, it appears the global community is unwilling to prevent the gravest and greatest of the crimes against humanity in Kashmir.

They were of the view that genocide of Kashmiris has been going on and the systematic coverup, continues despite warnings from international human rights groups, including Amnesty International, the UN, and the Genocide Watch. In one way or the other, all have raised the red flag and cautioned about the seriousness of the situation in the occupied valley.
