ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Dr. Arif Alvi has tested positive for COVID-19 again as the Country is bracing to face another wave of the deadly virus.

In a statement on Twitter on Thursday, the president said that he has contracted the COVID again and has been suffering from a sore throat for the last 4 to 5 days. However, he told that he is getting better now.

The president said that he had felt mildly feverish for a few hours two nights ago but he didn’t have other symptoms.

President Arif Alvi also appealed the people to resume precautions and follow COVID-related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

It’s the second time that President Dr. Arif Alvi has been infected by COVID-19. Earlier on March 28, 2021, he had tested positive for the virus for the first time.

Last Tuesday, the Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid also tested positive for Coronavirus.

Following the arrival of the Omicron variant in Pakistan, the positivity ratio has again begun climbing up as on January 5, it was recorded 2.32%.

In the last 24 hours, 1,085 new Cases of Coronavirus surfaced and 5 people succumbed to the disease across the Country.
