ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Dr. Arif Alvi has asked Omani businessmen to invest in Pakistan and benefit from its liberal and investment-friendly policy.

Talking to the visiting Omani business delegation led by the Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce & Industry Eng. Redha Juma Mohamed Ali Al-Saleh which called on the President at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad on Thursday, the president said that the confidence of foreign investors has considerably increased over the policies of Pakistan that provide a conducive business environment to foreign investors.

Mentioning the Pakistan-Oman bilateral relations, the president said that both the Country enjoy excellent relations which are deep-rooted in common culture, shared history, and heritage. He underlined the need for increasing trade and cultural relations for the mutual benefit of the two countries.

President Arif Alvi highlighted that Pakistan offers immense opportunities for investment and, in this regard, has established Special Economic and Technology Zones to attract foreign direct investment.

The president assured the delegation that the government would facilitate and support Omani businessmen to make investments in various sectors of Pakistan’s economy.

It was agreed to increase the volume of trade and enhance contacts between the Chambers of Commerce of the two Countries to boost economic relations.

The president also highlighted Pakistan’s concerns over human rights violations in the Illegally Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) by the Indian security forces.

President Dr. Arif Alvi thanked the government of Oman for its support on various issues at regional and international fora and expressed the hope that the visit of the Omani business delegation would further strengthen linkages between the business communities of the two brotherly countries.

The Omani delegation reiterated its desire to further improve bilateral cooperation in various fields.

The delegation emphasized the need for promoting bilateral cooperation in the areas of trade and tourism. It said that it would encourage Omani businessmen to invest in Pakistan.

Both sides agreed to increase the volume of trade and promote people-to-people contacts to bring the two brotherly Countries further closer.
