Monitoring Desk: The Brazilian Government recognizes the efforts of the Government of Pakistan, which has collaborated to achieve the purposes of the Brazilian humanitarian reception policy, including with regard to the departure from Pakistani territory of Afghan citizens who obtain a visa for travel to Brazil, says an official statement of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil.

The statement further said:

In the first ninety days since the publication of Interministerial Ordinance No. 24, which regulated the granting of temporary visas and residence permits for the purposes of humanitarian reception for Afghan nationals, stateless persons and people affected by a situation of serious or imminent institutional instability or serious violation human rights or international humanitarian law in Afghanistan, the Brazilian government granted 339 visas, or almost four visas a day.

At the moment, another 393 visa applications are under analysis. The interviews are being conducted by the Brazilian Embassies in Islamabad, Tehran, Moscow, Ankara, Doha and Abu Dhabi.

The Brazilian Government is in close and daily contact with civil society groups and associations that support Afghans and with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), to process requests as quickly as possible and support the necessary procedures.

Numerous Afghan citizens are already in Brazilian territory, including magistrates, young Afghan photographers and their family groups.
