JHELUM, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan inaugurated the Academic Blocks of the Al-Qadir University in Jhelum on Monday.

Initially, the Al-Qadir University has the capacity of 500 students which will be further extended in phases.

Based on Islamic teachings, Sufism, and modern scientific research, the University will play an important role in promoting knowledge and research among the young generation as well as in character building.

While addressing the Inauguration Ceremony, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that Al-Qadir University would engage with international Islamic scholars to provide world-level education facilities to the students.

The prime minister expressed the confidence that the University would build leadership qualities among the students.

Emphasizing on research in Universities to provide informed choices to the youth, he said that the Universities have a role to play for character building of students in the light of Seera-e-Tayyeba.

The prime minister said that unless we practice Seerat-un-Nabi (Peace Be Upon Him) we cannot attain the status dreamt by Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

Earlier in a tweet, the Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said that the establishment of the Al-Qadir University is another gift for Jhelum.

The information minister said that the University will add a new dimension to the social sciences. He expressed hope that it will become a world-class institution in which scholars of Sufism, Islam, and Science will be prepared.
