SportsBarrister Pansota’s plea; Court rules in favour of PTV

LAHORE, Pakistan: Preventing the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) from suspending its three-year deal with PTV Sports, a Lahore’s Civil Court has issued notice to the cricket’s governing body for violation of the agreement with the state-owned broadcaster.

The PTV Counsel Barrister Muhammad Ahmad Pansota contended before the Civil Judge Tallat Mahmood that the PCB had signed a three-year broadcast deal with PTV, under which, the PCB was required to grant exclusive rights to PTV Sports for broadcasting cricket matches in Pakistan from September 2020 till June 2023.

However, the PCB suspended the agreement on November 5 without any notice, which according to Barrister Ahmad Pansota, was a violation of the deal.

The Court was pleaded that the PCB be ordered to follow the agreement and barred from signing a new contract with other Channels by any means.

In response, the judge issued the judgment restraining the Pakistan Cricket Board from granting the broadcast rights to Private Channels till further orders.
