ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday launched the first-ever Track and Trace System (TTS) of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for the Sugar Sector.

The FBR’s Trace and Track System will ensure electronic monitoring of the production and sale of important sectors including Tobacco, Fertilizer, Sugar, and Cement Sectors.

It will help bring transparency in the system and enhance the Country’s revenue.

Under the system, no production bag of sugar will be taken out from the factory and manufacturing plant without a stamp and individual identity mark.

In his address at the Launching Ceremony of the FBR’s Trace and Track System in Islamabad, the prime minister said that it will help enhance the tax collection.

The prime minister stressed the need for promoting and strengthening tax culture in the Country by assuring people that their taxes will be spent for the welfare of their children instead of the luxuries of rulers. He said that the people will not hesitate in paying taxes if their confidence on the government machinery is restored.

Imran Khan said that the technology-based Trace and Track system will ensure utmost transparency in the tax collection and restore people’s confidence.

In his speech, the Advisor on Finance Shaukat Tarin said that 76 Companies have signed up for the Track and Trace System so far.

Shaukat Tarin said that FBR and NADRA are working on broadening the tax base through the use of modern technology.

The advisor said that only 3 million people pay taxes in the Country, adding that around 15 million people have been identified who can be brought to the tax net.
