SportsPakistan to host ICC Champions Trophy 2025

Pakistan will host the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 to defend the title it earned in 2017 in England, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Tuesday.

The next ICC Men’s Champions Trophy will be held in February 2025 in Pakistan where eight teams will compete in 15 matches across three different venues.

It will be the first major global Cricket tournament in Pakistan since 1996 when it hosted the Men’s Cricket World Cup alongside India and Sri Lanka.

In a statement, the Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Ramiz Raja said “I am pleased no-end with the ICC’s decision to select Pakistan as a host nation for one of their elite tournaments. By allocating a major global event to Pakistan, the ICC has expressed complete confidence and faith in our management and operational capabilities and skills.

“We have continued to demonstrate how a great host we are and through the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, we will again showcase our passion and love for the sport as this event will be a boon to the millions of home fans, who will see world class teams and their favourite international players from close quarters.

“We not only endeavour to plan and deliver a world-class event, we will also prepare and field a strong and formidable side that can perform and entertain our home fans. We saw during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup campaign how the nation got united and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at home will be another opportunity to further strengthen that bond as we defend the title.”

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 will be hosted by West Indies and the United States while India and Sri Lanka will host the Men’s T20 World Cup in 2026.

The World Cup 2027 will take place in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia whereas Australia and New Zealand will host the Men’s T20 World Cup 2028.

In 2029, India will hold the ICC Champions Trophy; in 2030, England Ireland & Scotland will be the venues of T20 World Cup whereas India along with Bangladesh will host the World Cup 2031.
