ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led newly elected federal government has abolished secret funds of 16 ministries with effective from June 11, it will save Rs16 billion to the national exchequer.

The sources said that secret funds of 16 ministries which include interior, information, IT and other ministries have been eliminated from June 11, 2013.

Secret funds of Pakistani embassies in US and UK will also come to an end after implementation on the decision.

Moreover, secret agencies could use secret funds. However, Auditor General of Pakistan will audit their secret funds.
