Terming the India’s malicious attitude “Ludicrous”, the former South African Opening Batsman Herschelle Gibbs has lambasted the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for bringing politics into cricket and hurling threats against him as a pressure tactic to bar him from participating in the Kashmir Premier League (KPL).

The inaugural edition of the KPL will take place in Muzaffarabad from August 6 to August 16, 2021.

The league is featuring six teams including Muzaffarabad Tigers, Overseas Warriors, Rawalakot Hawks, Kotli Lions, Bagh Stallions, and Mirpur Royals.

Herschelle Gibbs along with Monty Panesar, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Phil Mustard, Owais Shah, and Matt Prior have been picked in the KPL 2021 as Overseas Players. The former South African hard-hitting batsman is part of Overseas Warriors.

Even the KPL 2021 is yet to go underway officially, India is already bent upon creating impediments in the event.

Taking to Twitter, Herschelle Gibbs claimed that the BCCI is trying to prevent him playing in the KPL 2021.

Gibbs further revealed that the BCCI is threatening him that they won’t allow him entry into India for any cricket-related work if he participates in the KPL.


Earlier, the former Pakistani wicket-keeper batsman Rashid Latif also revealed that the “BCCI is warning cricket boards that if there former players took part in Kashmir Premier League, they won’t be allowed entry in India or allowed to work in Indian cricket at any level or in any capacity.”
