ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Cabinet has decided to continue the ban on the religio-political group ‘Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP)’.

Briefing the media on Tuesday about decisions taken in the Cabinet meeting which was held to discuss the overall political and economic situation of the Country with Prime Minister Imran Khan in the Chair, the Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said that the Federal Cabinet approved the Interior Ministry’s report recommending the ban on the TLP to continue.

The information minister said that the ban on the TLP had been imposed on merit and in light of solid facts as the organization was involved in arson and torture of police personnel.

The minister said that the Law Ministry is working to get the election symbol of the TLP canceled as per law.

The federal government banned the TLP in Pakistan in April 2021 under section 11(b) of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997 for its violent and unlawful activities in the Country.
