MONITORING DESK: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa accompanied by a delegation will pay an official visit to Azerbaijan on June 20, AZERTAC reported on Saturday citing the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan.
“As part of the visit, an exchange of views on the current state and prospects for the development of military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Pakistan will be held, as well as opportunities for expansion of military relations will be discussed,” Azerbaijan’s Defence Ministry said.
The top-level military discussion between Pakistan and Azerbaijan has recently been on the rise as just a few days ago, a delegation of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) led by Air Vice Marshal Tariq Zia visited Baku and met the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Commander of the Air Force Lieutenant General Ramiz Tahirov.
Prior to that, a Pakistani military delegation led by the Director General Military Operations (DGMO) of the Pakistani Army Major General Nauman Zakaria also visited Baku in early June 2021 and held extensive discussions with Azerbaijan’s military leadership.
Besides, the Commander of Azerbaijan’s Naval Forces Rear Admiral Subhan Bekirov also undertook a visit to Pakistan recently and met the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi at the Naval Headquarters in Islamabad to exchange views on matters of mutual interests and the regional security situation.
