ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) can file an appeal against the decision of its banning within 30 days, adding that a Committee will decide the appeal.

While addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Wednesday, the minister said that all matters have been settled with the proscribed TLP after negotiations with them.

The interior minister said that 200 FIRs against the violent TLP workers will proceed under the due legal process. He said that out of 733 workers of banned TLP, 669 have been released.

The minister said that Rs 40 million will be disbursed among the heirs of the martyred policemen and the injured police officials.

Sheikh Rashid said that the writ of the state has been ensured. He added that no one will be allowed to take the law into his own hands.

The interior minister further said that Prime Minister Imran Khan will sensitize the Western world about sanctity of the Prophethood (Peace Be Upon Him), and to convince them that any incident of blasphemy hurts Muslims.
