ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain has expressed the confidence that the PTV News will be fully converted into HD technology by June 2021, and similarly PTV Sports will also be upgraded to HD technology.

In a series of tweets on Wednesday, the minister said that the reform process initiated in the Ministry of Information and its attached departments in 2018 is being resumed.

Fawad Chaudhry said that he has given a deadline to complete the project of converting the PTV News on HD which had been lying pending since 2019.

The federal minister said that an English Channel is going to be launched. He said that the Studios in Karachi and Lahore will be renovated in Public-Private Partnership mode.

Chaudhry Fawad Hussain vowed to transform the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) into a digital news agency. He said that steps have been initiated to make the Press Information Department (PID) and its advertisement system paperless. The External Wing will be fully revamped.

The minister for Information said that the revival of film and drama is his first priority, adding that work is being started for productions of international level on the lives of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan and Tipu Sultan.

Further, he said that we will give the facility of loan up to Rs 50 million to young drama and filmmakers under the Kamyab Jawan Programme. He said that houses under the Prime Minister’s Housing Project and Health Cards will be provided to both print and television journalists.

The information minister said that legislation and insurance are being introduced to ensure payment of salaries to journalists. He said that the provision of facilities to Press Clubs will also be his policy. He said that we will fully support digital media.
