ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Shibli Faraz has said that the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and its allies are hopeful to win elections of the Chairman Senate and the Deputy Chairman.

The Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Upper House of the Parliament will be elected on Friday through secret ballot after oath-taking of 48 newly elected Senators.

The ruling PTI and its allied parties have nominated Sadiq Sanjrani as their Candidate for the Chairman Senate Slot while the Opposition has fielded Yousaf Raza Gilani for the Seat.

Likewise, Senator Mirza Mohammad Afridi is the PTI’s Candidate to become the Deputy Chairman Senate whereas Jamiat Ulema-e-Fazl’s (JUI-F) Abdul Ghafoor Haideri is the Joint Nominee of the Opposition for the Position.

Talking to media in Islamabad on Thursday along with the Punjab Chief Minister’s Special Assistant Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan after the meeting of the PTI’s Core Committee which met in Islamabad with Prime Minister Imran Khan in the Chair, Shibli Faraz said that the people have rejected the Opposition’s narrative.

The information minister said that the government will not create any hurdle in the way of proposed long march of the Opposition’s Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) but nobody will be allowed to violate the law.

In her remarks, Firdous Ashiq Awan said that that PTI’s Core Committee has decided to restructure the party at the gross root level and the Chief Organizer and the General Secretary have been given task in this regard.

Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the Committee endorsed the resolution passed by the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly to grant the provisional provincial status to the area.
