DHAKA: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Tuesday suspended former captain Muhammad Ashraful for his alleged involvement in match-fixing that took place during Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

“As Ashraful has confessed his involvement in fixing to the ACSU team, so he should not be allowed to play any level of cricket until we get a full report of the investigation,” the BCB president Nazmul Hassan said.

“The allegations involve a match between Dhaka Gladiators and Chittagong Kings in the second edition of the BPL,” confirmed Jalal Yunus, a BCB spokesperson earlier.

According to the local media reports that one million taka (USD 12,800) to lose a match for his side Dhaka Gladiators against Barisal Burners but the cheque he was given bounced.
