ISLAMABAD: In order to express unity and solidarity with the Kashmiri people, ‘Kashmir Solidarity Day’ is being observed countrywide today (Tuesday), Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported on Tuesday. This event is also being observed across the border in Indian Kashmir.

Public holiday has been announced across the country and this day is being marked with a spirit to impress upon the world the need to resolve the issue of Kashmir in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of the Kashmiri people and bring their decades long suffering to an end.

On this occasion, special programs will be convened. One-minute silence will be marked at 10am this morning followed by sirens. Chains of human hands will be made at Line of Control.

It is pertinent to mention that February 5 is officially observed every year in the country ever since 1990, as the then government decided to internationalize the Kashmir issue to draw attention of greater part of the world towards its importance and the need to resolve it.
