CrimeLawyers observe strike across Sindh against colleague’s target killing

KARACHI: Lawyers observed a strike and boycotted all court proceedings across Sindh on Wednesday in a protest against yesterday’s target killing of their colleague in Karachi.

On Tuesday, gunmen opened fire on a car of an advocate of the Sindh High Court (SHC) at Maripur road near Native Jetty bridge in Karachi that killed him and two of his children.

The protesting lawyers said that they were being targeted and killed in broad daylight and that they were left no other choice but to protest the incidents by boycotting court proceedings.

The added that their protests would continue if lawyers were not provided with adequate protection.

On the other hand, hundreds of lawyers staging a strong protest against yesterday’s target killing of Advocate Kausar Saqlain kept storming the gate of the Sindh assembly, where they wanted to get their protests registered.

Angry lawyers raising vociferous slogans against the authorities for the total failure in restoring the law and order and controlling persistent target killings in the city marched from the city court to the Sindh assembly under the aegis of Karachi Bar Association.
