PakistanPakistan’s Interior Minister Rehman welcomes Taliban negotiation offer

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Monday welcomed the offer of negotiation extended by outlawed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

Earlier, on Sunday, the TTP expressed its willingness to hold talks with the government; however, the banned group set two conditions in this regard including the release of the members of the Taliban’s political committee and guarantees by leaders of PML-N, JUI-F and JI to make the exercise fruitful.

“I have often said that bullet is not the solution to problems. Though earlier it was not clear with whom the Taliban are willing to talk, if they have mentioned guarantors lets welcome it,” Malik said while talking to media persons.

Interior minister said the government would formally reply to the offer in couple of days. However, he said that the negotiation offer should have been unconditional rather that linked with the release of Taliban’s prisoners.
