KARACHI: The Sindh High Court Registrar on Monday expressed reservations over the setup of election appellate tribunals, saying that the tribunals were set up without consulting the provincial court.
In a letter to the Election Commission of Pakistan, the registrar said that the election tribunals were set up in the province without consulting the Sindh High Court.
The election tribunals were to be set up with prior consultation with the Chief Justices of the respective provincial High Courts according to the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s orders, he added.
The Election Commission had approved formation of 14 election tribunals in the provinces to decide disputes during general elections within 120 days of filing of a petition.
