Pakistan ArmyOperation Swift Resort: Pakistan army reiterates desire for peace with India

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: As Surprise Day is being celebrated on Saturday to mark the 2nd anniversary of Operation Swift Resort, the Pakistan army has reiterated that the Country stands for peace; however, any misadventure and efforts to destabilize the Country will be dealt with full aggression.

The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) is celebrating the Surprise Day to pay tribute to valiant Shaheens’ for their brave defence of the motherland while retaliating to the Indian Air Force (IAF) violation of its sovereign territories on February 27, 2019.

“27th February 2019 is a testament that Pakistan Air Force, with support of the nation, will always defend the motherland against all threats,” said the Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Babar Iftikhar in a statement.

The Operation Swift Retort was a rapid response to the Indian Air Force strike in Balakot obliterating Pakistan’s airspace that had merely harmed a few trees and a wild crow.

The PAF had shot down two Indian fighter jets namely MiG-21 and Su-30 where the former’s pilot Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was caught by the Pakistan army after his safe ejection and falling into the Pakistani side of the Line of Control (LoC)

“It is not numbers but courage & will of a resilient nation that triumphs in the end. Pakistan stands for peace but when challenged, shall respond with full might,” the director-general ISPR said.

Meanwhile, the Celebration Ceremony of the Surprise Day will be held at the PAF Headquarters in Islamabad.

It’s worth noting that the Indian Air Force Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman in a video message ahead of his release on March 1, 2019 was full of praise for the Pakistan army for its professionalism, and also advocated the prevalence of peace between both the neighboring Countries.

“I see no reason for us to continue with any kind of hostility,” he said.

The Wing Commander Abhinandan further said that the peace must prevail and we can surely coexist with it.
