COLOMBO, Sri Lanka: Prime Minister Imran Khan held a one-on-one meeting with the Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo on Wednesday.

In the meeting, Pakistan-Sri Lanka bilateral relations and other issues of mutual interest came under discussion.

Later, the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the Prime Minister’s Advisor on Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood, and the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Syed Zulfikar Abbas Bukhari also joined the meeting.

The discussions were mainly focused on common interests such as trade, tourism & adoption of technology in agriculture which both Countries could positively leverage on, according to the Sri Lankan president.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan-Sri Lanka Trade and Investment Conference began in Colombo aimed at promoting trade and investment between the two Countries.

Minister Imran Khan and his Sri Lankan Counterpart Mahinda Rajapaksa among others were also attending the Conference.

Earlier on Tuesday, Prime Minister Imran Khan accompanied by a high-level delegation including members of the Cabinet and senior officials reached Colombo on a two-day visit.

Imran Khan held a one-on-one discussion with the Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees in Colombo followed by delegation-level talks.

In the talks, the sides agreed to reinforce a broad-based and enduring partnership to advance the shared objectives of peace, stability and economic prosperity in South Asia.

The two sides reaffirmed their resolve to work together across a broad range of areas.

Later, two Countries also signed several Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) in various sectors including commerce, investment, education, science and technology and industrial cooperation.
