Elections 2013Raja Pervez offers unconditional apology to Supreme Court

ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on Tuesday filed his unconditional apology to the Supreme Court in the rental power projects (RPP) implementation case.

The apex court has been hearing a case over the implementation of its March 2012 ruling on rental power projects in which it had held the RPP contracts non-transparent and had ordered that these be rescinded.

Kamran Faisal, an officer involved in the investigation of RPP scam was found dead at the federal lodges number 2 in Islamabad in January this year.

Raja Pervez Ashraf had, in a letter, requested Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to form judicial commission under the supervision of Shoaib Suddle in the RPP case.

On this, the Supreme Court had issued a contempt of court notice to Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, describing the letter an attempt to influence the court by writing to CJP.

On Tuesday, advocate Waseem Sajjad filed unconditional apology on behalf of Raja Pervez Ashraf. The former PM has also offered to withdraw his letter.
