Pakistan records 7.20% COVID positivity ratio

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The national COVID positivity ratio stood at 7.20% on November 26 in Pakistan as 3,113 more people suffered the disease, according to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).

In the last 24 hours, 54 people lost their lives to COVID-19.

In total, now total infections across the Country have reached 389,311 while the death toll has climbed to 7,897.

Meanwhile, the Morning Session of the NCOC was held in Islamabad on Friday with the Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives and the Chairman NCOC Asad Umer in the Chair.

The Provincial Chief Secretaries participated in the NCOC Session through video link.

The forum was apprised about disease prevalence and spread in various parts of the country.

The health experts briefed the forum that the national positivity ratio is 7.20%

The highest positivity ratio observed in Peshawar was 19.65% followed by Karachi at 17.73% and Hyderabad at 16.32%

The forum was apprised that 2,112 COVID-19 patients are in critical condition across Pakistan and the number of critical patients is rising fast.

The positivity ratio in various federating units is as:

Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) 10.79%, Balochistan is 6.41%, Gilgit-Baltistan 4.81%, Islamabad 5.84%, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is 9.25%, Punjab 3.59%, and Sindh 13.25%

Punjab

Lahore           –          4.52%

Rawalpindi   –            11.49%

Sindh

Karachi          –           17.73%

Hyderabad   –             16.32%

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Peshawar     –             19.65%

Balochistan

Quetta           –           9.77%

Islamabad

ICT                  –        5.84%

AJK

Mirpur           –          14.97%

Muzaffarabad –          10.34%

Gilgit-Baltistan

Gilgit              –           9.26%

The forum was apprised that meetings were held with Ulema/ Marriage Hall associations by the federating units on compliance of health guidelines/health protocols and enforcement measures.

The Chairman NCOC Asad Umer said that our main responsibility is public safety and health and all necessary measures as passed through various guidelines and instructions issued from time to time by the Health Ministry must be ensured.

Asad Umar said that continuous monitoring and anticipation of likely pattern/  disease prevalence is most important as only this will help us required response for COVID Control efforts

The federating units praised compliance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in mosques and enforcement measures and public awareness about pandemic through Ulema.
